The Skinner North Cross Country team did an amazing job this season! The 5/6th boys and girls moved on to the qualifier, while one 7/8th girl, Janai J. moved on as well and finished 18th overall. The 5/6th girls moved on to the city championship and were a force to be reckoned with. At the city championship, the 5/6th girls team finished 11th in the entire city, with an individual finishing 10th in the city. Congrats to every single runner, and we'll see you next Fall!
At the City Championship meet for Track and Field, our 7th grade 4X100 girls' team qualified for the championship and finished 11th in the entire city!! The girls' team consists of: Janai, Chelsea, Zoe, and Tea.
CPS Student Science Fair
Congratulations to Julie, Madison and Anagha, three of our 8th graders! All participated in the City Science Fair. We are so proud of their hard work and scientific endeavors.
At this fair, Anagha won the Executive Director's Special Award for Outstanding Research in Biological Science and she qualified to move on to the state fair! Anagha's topic was titled The Effect of Melatonin on Cancer Cell Death.Congratulations! It is an impressive accomplishment!
You Be the Chemist
On Saturday March 19th, You Be The Chemist participated in the Challenge at North Park University. Anthony A.,, Bronagh, Sarai, and Iman competed in the judged chemistry demonstration. Roshni and Adriana competed in the Quiz Bowl earning 4th and 6th place. Roshni and Adriana have qualified for the You Be The Chemist State Challenge on Saturday April 30th and Lewis University! Thank you to Ms. Rogers for coaching the team! Congratulations to all the participants!!
Chicago History Fair
A number of our 6th and 7th grade students participated in the Chicago Metro History Fair. This year's topic was Encounter, Exploration and Exchange. Students selected topics that interested them and were related to these themes and Chicago. Based on this, they could present their arguments on the topic in various formats including exhibit boards, documentaries, performances, websites and papers.

Our Chess Club took 3rd place in the 2014 State tournament. Team's had a 1st place finish in the CPS (K-6) Elementary Chess Championship!
Skinner North Spelling Bee Champion and National Spelling Bee Qualifier
As our school-wide spelling bee champion, Nina, a Skinner North 6th grader, qualified to participate in city-wide Spelling Bee on March 10. She came in first at this grueling day long event and has qualified to compete in the National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.!

Chicago Junior Math League Competition
On Saturday, March 26th, Skinner North's Math Team competed in Contest 3 of the Chicago Junior Math League competition series. The 6th grade team (starters: Roshni, Connor, Matthew, Ben, Anthony, and Adrianna) earned 2nd place in Division A. The 8th grade team (Anagha, Kody, Marvin, and Zoe) earned 5th place in Division A.
