Skinner North's Anti-Asian American Racism Bystander Training - This event is Wednesday, May 19th from 12:00-1:00pm. This FREE workshop for adult members of our SN community (all staff & parents/ caregivers) will be hosted by Asian Americans Advancing Justice- Chicago. Specific strategies will be shared about what to do- while keeping yourself safe- when you witness or experience anti-Asian harassment. (Another session for kids will be developed over the summer to offer in the fall.) All-City Visual Arts Elementary Exhibition - We are pleased to announce that 13 Skinner North students were included in the CPS Department of Arts All-City Visual Arts Elementary Exhibition. There were over 2,200 pieces submitted for consideration for this virtual exhibition. The live virtual reception will be on Wednesday, May 19th at 6:00 pm via the Department of Arts Youtube channel. Vaccination Events for Families on Saturday - CPS is thrilled to share that CPS is partnering with CDPH and CTU to host vaccination events at CPS schools for students and their families. Vaccinations will be offered to students, parents and community members over the age of 12. Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian present to provide consent. On Saturday, May 15th, vaccination events will be held at Westinghouse HS, Juarez HS, Nash ES, Marshall HS, and Chicago Vocational Career Academy. Each school has a linked flier that provides further details.
One World One Book - We were super fortunate to receive a donation of books from One World, One Book. See some of the titles here. This organization is committed to fostering more understanding of Asian American culture, history and contributions to our country and community.
