We are so thankful for our students, parents and staff and hope that everyone has a relaxing and safe Thanksgiving break. Break begins Wednesday, Nov. 26 and students return Monday, Dec. 1.
Last Day For Food Drive
It has been fantastic to see so many donations coming in for the Greater Chicago Food Depository! Just a reminder that the last day to drop off goods is tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 25.
Holiday Food Drive
Thanks to all families who have contributed to this year's Chicago Bulls Holiday Food Drive and supporting those in need in the Chicagoland area. Donations will be collected through November and can be dropped off in your child's classroom collection box in the lobby of the school.
The fest is at school from 4:30 - 6:30 pm on Friday the 21st. We invite families to celebrate the cultural diversity of the Skinner North community. Like last year, we will have small booths that line the main school hallway that feature different cultures/communities/countries. Students will be given a passport that will be stamped as they visit different tables and learn more about their peers and themselves. In addition, you will be able to sample food from different cultures. Hope to see you there!
Veterans Tribute Week (11/3-11/6)
Help us recognize those who serve our country! To honor Skinner North family members who have served in the military or are still in active duty, we are inviting Skinner families and teachers to contribute to our Veterans Day Honorary Flag. Remember to return your white paper stars that were sent home. (Extras are available in the main office and parent room)
If you have a military family member you’d like to recognize, please CUT & FILL OUT the white paper star with your loved ones:
For our Veterans Tribute Week, all students will also be participating in a letter writing project for Honor Flight Chicago (honorflightchicago.org) which we will need a parent volunteer to help with. A volunteer request will be sent out early next week. Additionally, students will also get the unique opportunity to hear speakers talk from the military about their experiences serving our country.
We’re hoping that all these activities will help our Skinner North students better understand the meaning & importance of Veterans Day.
