Friday was a bittersweet moment for us at Skinner North. Our first group of 8 grade students graduated and are headed off to high school. We are so proud of their hard work and dedication and excited to see where the future takes them. Thank you to all the parents who helped decorate, to the amazing 8th grade team for their planning and organization and to our fantastic students!
Our Kindergarten students are Pop, Rock and Rollin into First Grade! On Thursday, they entertained families and friends with their musical performance celebrating their year, then went outside to celebrate with various activities. Thank you to the Kindergarten team, Ms. Poznicek and to all the volunteers to helped.
The 7th and 8th grade musical elective group did a fantastic job in their culminating performance of The Big Bad Musical. Students created the set, acted and entertained. The jury, or rather audience, had to decide the fate of the Big Bad Wold in a class-action lawsuit by various storybook characters. Thank you to Ms. Poznicek for all her work in helping students with this entertaining performance.
On Thursday, June 9th, 3rd grade students participated in the annual Wax Museum. Students dressed up as famous Chicagoans and represented those individuals with shorts descriptions of their lives. It is such an enriching event and so fun to see history coming alive in our gym! Other grade levels got to visit and hear about the lives of our "wax figures."
Thank you to the Diversity and Social Committees for all their work on this year's June Jamboree and to Target team members for volunteering at the event. It was a blast! We had a great turn out. Participants created and flew kites, danced to hip-hop music, learned about music from around the world, got their faces painted and more! Overall, it was a great community event and so fun to see everyone enjoying each other's company and the warm weather.
