A special note of thanks to our amazing kindergarten teachers, Mrs. Kearns and Mrs. Mulligan. Thank you for all that you do!

C.A. - James G. Our 3rd grades students learned about Chicago history all year long. They explored its beginnings, development and neighborhoods. As a project this quarter, each student selected an individual from Chicago to research. Each student, then got to become that person and give a presentation as that individual. It was such a fun event! Thank you to our third grade team, Ms. Magina and Ms. Shakespeare, and to all the parents who helped!
Our 4th graders recently completed a unit on human systems and we were fortunate enough to have a helicopter flight nurse and Skinner North parent come and speak to the classes about her job and experiences within that role. This really helped students connect their learning to the real world! Thank you so much to Jannie W. for sharing your time and talents with us! To find out more information about the University of Chicago Aeromedical Network and the role of flight nurses go to http://www.uchospitals.edu/professionals/ucan.html.
The City Championship meet for Track and Field was this past Saturday. Our 7th grade 4X100 girls team qualified for the championship and finished 11th in the entire city!! The girls' team consists of Janai, Chelsea, Zoe, and Tea.
Congrats girls and to the entire Skinner North Track and Field Team!! Thanks to Coach Halfen, Coach Ridgway and Coach Phil for all their work throughout the season! Classes completed physical fitness challenges throughout the year and the top performers got to participated in a special field day. Students were able to play various games and had a lot of fun. Thanks to Mr. Popowich and Ms. Dufford for being fitness champions and for developing the activities!
Thank you to the Target volunteers who came to help at the school. Our garden looks great! Thanks for being such helpful neighbors! It is greatly appreciated.
For their 4th quarter projects, the 2nd graders each researched a state and completed a parade float with all of the information they learned! Students are very proud of their work and were able to show their work to fellow Skinner North students via their parade. The floats looked awesome and were very informative!
Skinner North recently hosted our 3-5th grade music assembly entitled "Ode to Composers" and the 6/7th grade Variety Show. Students did a fantastic job and showed all the hard work and effort they put into their performances. Students played recorders, ukuleles, piano, and even a flute! Audience members learned about famous composers and saw student created performances. Thank you to Ms. Poznicek for all her organization and planning and to our parent volunteers who helped create the set!
